Last Post of the Year

If something is destined to happen, it will happen without your interference

In the beginning:
Macbeth learns from the 3 Witches that he is going to be King. Once he knows that he is going to become king, he does whatever it takes for that to happen. He kills Duncan. Not only does he kill Duncan, one of the nicest characters in any Shakespeare play, but he ends up killing even more innocent people. But he does become king. Even if it is only for a short period of time.

Towards the end:
The 3 Witches tell Macbeth three things. 1: Beware of Macduff. 2: Nobody born of a woman can hurt him. And 3: His rein will last as long as the forest doesn't move to the hill. Macbeth is pretty eased when he learns this because the last 2 pretty much say he can't be defeated. But in the end, Macbeth is indeed defeated. Nothing was really as it seemed. The forest didn't actually move to the hills, but what the witches said did happen, and Macbeth was defeated.

I had so much fun posting and commenting in english class. I had a great year with you guys and I hope each and every one of you has a fantastic Summer break!

Quotes

"If chance will have me king, why, chance may crown me
Without my stir." (Act 1. SC.4)
Macbeth is saying this to Banquo. He is saying what is meant to be will be. It is a little ironic because he doesn't really let it happen on its own. He stirs up a lot of trouble. He interferes a lot to become king.

"Tis better thee without than he within." (Act 3. SC. 4)
Macbeth says this to one of Banquo's murderers. The murderer has blood on him and he is interrupting Macbeth's dinner party. Macbeth means it is better that he has Banquo's blood on him than Banquo having his blood and alive. This shows how ruthless Macbeth is and how important it is to him that his friend Banquo is dead.

Jazz Fest- Free Post

I went to JazzFest for spring break this year. I went for 3 days and saw the Avett Brothers, Robin Thicke, Royal Teeth, and Vampire Weekend. It was so much fun. I got very sunburned and walked about 10 miles each day.  We left Friday morning and went straight to the festival. We were so tired and burned by the end of the day. On Saturday we slept in and left around noon. On Sunday, we left a little early and went straight to the stage Vampire Weekend was going to be and we got spots in the very front, the closest to the stage we could be without VIP passes.

As the day progressed, the more and more crowded it got. We made a few friends, and met a few people we didn't like. We were in the same spot all day in the sun for 6 hours. We saw 5 different bands and they were all pretty good. When Vampire Weekend started, my friends and I asked a staff member if e could push the barricades forward. He said no. But he said he would try to help us if we needed anything. About halfway through the show, he came up to me with another man and asked me for my name. Then he handed me a bottle of water and told me that I wasn't feeling well and he was going to help me over the fence so I could "sit down and feel better". I got to watch Vampire Weekend UP CLOSE. It was the coolest experience I have ever had and I will never forget that staff member.

I read for 4 and a half hours. I am reading Code Name Verity for a World History project.

4-15-14: CHoose 2 prompts

If something is destined to happen, it will happen without your interference
I went to a different school from pre-k to 5th grade. We would have one or two field trips a year and they would assign groups. The way they picked the groups was counting heads and giving numbers to everyone. My friends and I would always move around the room so we would be more likely to be in the same group. Unfortunately  someone would always miscount and end up in a different group. Sometimes it was me. Throughout the years, the teachers would catch on and count differently, so we would have been in the same group if we had stayed where we were.
Some things are destined or fated to happen
One of my best friends went to the same sunday school as me all of our childhood and we never knew each other until many years later. When she came to my bat mitzvah (all the way from Mississippi), her mom recognized the temple and told her that they went to this same temple. We never met when she was here, but when we were 10, we were in the same cabin. We weren't even friends then! The last week of the session, I was going to be in the talent show with another girl but she decided not to do it. So Hannah joined me instead. We are the best of friends and we would't have met if my other friend had done the show with me.

California English- Vapire Weekend

The song, California English, is very different from all other songs. The way it is sung is extremely hard to understand. To me, it all sounds like nonsense. But when you read the lyrics, it is surprising that they are actually saying real words.
Every sentence is very short. There are lots of commas but they don't break up the idea. They use sibilance and the way the words are pronounced creates an onomatopoeia. (they sound like someone with a Californian accent). It also has repetitive alliteration.

I read

Tuesday 10 min of perks of being a wallflower
Wednesday 10 min of perks of being a wallflower
Thursday 30 min of perks of being a wallflower

Saturday-Sunday 45 min of perks of being a wallflower
Monday-20 min of analyzing and writing a poem ( I had writers block...)
